I am very fortunate to be involved in the newly formed Scottish Junior Golf Tour which began back in 2007. I am one of the affiliated coaches/ mentors along with European Tour winner and world cup player Dean Robertson and founder of Instinctive Golf, Kendal McWade. The SJGT aims to indentify and nurture young talented golfers from across Scotland and provide them with the opportunity to play competitive fun golf on a regular basis as well as being given the coaching required to help them become as good at the game as they want to be.

   The Vision :  For Scotland to be the number one golfing nation in the world.

   The Goals :   To hold regular competitions for talented under 14 players throughout the country.

                       To provide regular mentoring and skill development sessions.

                       To  Provide opportunties for competition out with Scotland.

                       To provide support for talented golfers from under privileged backgrounds.

               A year and a half on and the tour really has gone from strength to strenth with the very best that Scotland has to offer at an under 14 level all competing on the tour. The boys get the amazing opportunity to compete on courses such as Carnoustie, Turnberry, West Kilbride and St Andrews amongst others and get to experience proper competition on these great courses.

                So far, we have several players who will be competing in the US Kids European Championships this year as well as the World Championships in South Carolina in the summer, a testament to how well they are progressing. And so far this year a select 12 man team has played a select team from West Sussex(Scotland won 5 - 1 in a thrilling match at Littlehampton Golf Club) and other exciting matches in the pipeline is a match against Ireland at St Andrews in April and potentially a match against England U14 later on in 2009.

                 The SJGT represents a huge step forward in the development in Scottish golf in an age group that has been sadly lacking support for some time and i am very happy to be a part of it. For more information visit www.scottishjuniorgolftour.co.uk.
